DJ Goran Nikšić (Zagreb)

It is Goran’s first DJ-visit to Berlin. We are very much looking forward to a beautiful night with great music: “Physicist by day and tanguero by night – Goran doesn’t get too sleep much. As a physics student, he took a dancing course purely by chance. After a few years of dancing he found out there was more to it: he heard about Argentine tango and was hooked ever since. This is also the moment his 10 years of music school kicked in: he fell in love with the dance and the music. For him, tango means not only to “listen to” the music and dance “to” it, but also to play it along with D’Arienzo, Di Sarli and countless other orchestras. Young teachers from Zagreb (Zrinko & Tajana and Marko & Maja) are the reason he never quit this wonderfully frustrating quest for great tango. Also by chance he started DJing at local practicas and milongas in Zagreb. There was no going back after that: marathons, workshops, festivals – he travels a lot seeking great embraces and sharing deep feelings he finds in tango music.
So far you could have heard him play music at international festivals, marathons and milongas in Poreč, Amsterdam, Oslo, Budapest, Vienna, London, Udine, Belgrade, Stuttgart etc. His music collection s constantly and relentlessly expanding. You can see him at the console looking at the floor and carefully selecting the next tanda and (sometimes even more important) the next cortina that will bring people back to the dance floor wanting more and more. The energy of the dance floor and a good mood are the only important factors in a good milonga evening. Apart from dancing, teaching and DJing, he spends a part of every day at the piano playing tango, among other music.”
